Kanbee shows your team's Work in Progress (WIP) trends directly inside Jira — with zero configuration. This page covers how to find it, what each section means, and how to get the most out of it.

Getting started

  1. Open any Jira Cloud project and look for Kanbee in the left-hand navigation.
  2. First open per project: Kanbee builds a 90-day history from your changelog — can take 20–30 seconds for larger projects.
  3. Every visit after that loads instantly from cache.
No setup screen, no status mapping. Kanbee detects "in progress" statuses automatically using Jira's own status categories.

Reading the dashboard

KPI cards

WIP today

Issues in an in-progress status right now, vs. the previous period

Avg WIP

Arithmetic mean of daily WIP over the selected range

P90 WIP

Value exceeded on only 10% of days — your "bad days"

Process stability

High / Medium / Low, based on coefficient of variation (CV)

Daily WIP chart

WIP day by day over 7/14/30 days, with a dashed average line. The date range buttons and issue type dropdown both update the whole dashboard in real time — no reload.

Insights

Three plain-language observations generated from your current data: average WIP commentary, process stability assessment, and which status is accumulating the most work. Simple rule-based summaries — no AI involved.

Status breakdown

Horizontal bars showing how in-progress work is distributed across statuses — useful for spotting which stage is piling up.

Dashboard gadget

Kanbee can also be added to any personal or team Jira dashboard:

  1. Go to Dashboards in Jira's navigation.
  2. Open or create a dashboard, then click Add gadget.
  3. Search for "Kanbee" and add it.
  4. Pick a project — the gadget shows WIP today, a trend delta, a 14-day sparkline, and a link to the full report.

To change the project later, use the gadget's Edit option from its menu on the dashboard.

Refreshing data

Today's snapshot caches for up to 1 hour; historical days are immutable once built. Click ↺ refresh next to the date range controls to see status changes reflected immediately.

FAQ

"No in-progress statuses found for this project"

Kanbee relies on Jira's built-in status categories. If no status in your workflow is categorized as "In Progress" (indeterminate), there's nothing to show. Check your workflow's status category mapping in project settings.

Why did today's number change after I refreshed?

Today's WIP is always a live query — it reflects your board's current state. Historical days, once built, don't change.

Does Kanbee see more than I have access to?

No. Kanbee acts as the user viewing the dashboard — it never has broader access than you already have in Jira.
